HA filler adds volume where it is placed and is gradually absorbed over time. For the Indian band, the doctor usually restores the deep medial cheek first — replacing the volume that has thinned under the ligament lifts and reduces the groove at its source — and then, if the band still shows, places very small amounts of a soft gel in the superficial layer along the line to smooth it, typically with a cannula. Before you decide, the questions people always ask
before consultation
It is the line that runs diagonally from below the cheekbone toward the side of the nose. It reads as a shadow even when you are not smiling and gives the face a tired look. In many cases it becomes visible as the volume in that area decreases with weight loss or with age.
Because it is not a question of colour but a shadow cast by a sunken surface. Depending on the angle of the light it can look even deeper, so there is a limit to what covering products can do, and a thick layer tends to make the groove stand out more instead. The principle of this treatment is to support the sunken surface so that the shadow goes away.
Because the area sits close to the nose, many people find it more sensitive than other areas. We apply plenty of numbing cream before we begin, and when needed we use a product that contains an anaesthetic. If it becomes hard to bear during the procedure, tell us at any time — we can split it into stages or pause for a moment and then continue.
We reduce the difference by using different amounts on each side. However, if the cause is your sleeping position, a chewing habit or a left-right difference in the bone, a complete match is difficult, and forcing it can leave one side looking puffy. We tell you before the procedure how far the gap can be narrowed, and we keep photographs for comparison.
Swelling generally subsides within three to five days, and the filler settles at around two weeks. Early on the filled area can look a little full and feel unfamiliar, but this usually evens out. If a visible edge remains after two weeks, we can check it and adjust.
