qd facial liposuction
Facial liposuction refines the face by removing localized fat — most often at the front cheek and the double chin (under-chin) — through tiny, hidden incisions. At QD Clinic in Gangnam, Seoul, it is performed under tumescent local anesthesia, sometimes with light sedation, using a fine cannula, and a supportive compression band is worn afterward to help the skin settle. It suits localized fat with good skin elasticity. (Results vary by individual.)
is this for me
Who it’s for
Even if none of these describes you, we will look again at the consultation.
- Localized fullness at the front cheek that blunts the facial contour
- A double chin or under-chin fullness that softens the jawline
- Good skin elasticity, so the skin can redrape after fat is removed
If skin is significantly loose, or the fullness comes from muscle or bone rather than fat, another approach may suit better; this is decided at consultation.
Before you pick a treatment name, start with the cause of your concern.
start with your concern
Even a treatment with the same name takes on a different role and scope depending on your current structure, the change you want, what you have had before and the recovery time you have.
01
Where you are now, and where we start
Overall facial balance and how the fat is distributed area by area
02
The change you want, the impression you keep
We check the front and side views and expression, left-right differences, skin and deep tissue, and scars and function from earlier surgery.
03
How it differs from similar options
We compare incision and dissection, how much is removed, repositioned or fixed, the pros and cons of materials, and the option of no surgery at all.
04
Health information and recovery schedule
Anesthesia, preventing bleeding and infection, wound care, swelling and changes in sensation, and when to be seen again — all in one plan.
the
principle
We predict how the remaining skin and support will behave and — keeping vessels and nerves in mind — set the area and the volume of suction conservatively.
Localized facial fat — at the front cheek or beneath the chin — can blunt the contour and soften the jawline. A tumescent solution is first infiltrated to numb the area and reduce bleeding; through a tiny incision hidden under the chin or inside the mouth, the surgeon passes a fine cannula to suction the targeted fat evenly, refining the contour. A conservative amount is removed to keep the surface smooth, and a compression band afterward helps the skin redrape to the new shape.

How it works
01
Tumescent numbing first
A tumescent solution is infiltrated to numb the area and reduce bleeding before any fat is suctioned.
02
A fine cannula through a tiny incision
Through a tiny incision hidden under the chin or inside the mouth, the surgeon passes a fine cannula to suction the targeted fat evenly and refine the contour.
03
Conservative, even removal
A conservative amount is removed to keep the surface smooth; the procedure suits localized fat with good skin elasticity, so the skin can redrape.
04
Compression helps the skin settle
A compression band is worn afterward to reduce swelling and help the skin redrape to the new shape. Performed under tumescent local anesthesia, sometimes with light sedation.
The same treatment, never the same plan.
the qd standard
Rather than a fashionable name or a fixed package, we weigh the structure found at examination, safety, recovery and the limits within one plan.

Surgery and recovery plan
Anesthesia, preventing bleeding and infection, wound care, swelling and changes in sensation, and when to be seen again — all set out in one plan.
What the procedure is like
- Consultation, facial assessment and marking
- Tumescent local anesthesia (with optional light sedation)
- A tiny incision hidden under the chin or inside the mouth
- Even suction of the targeted fat with a fine cannula
- Fitting of a compression band, recovery and aftercare guidance
Time: The procedure takes about 30–60 minutes depending on the areas.
Please read this before treatment
- Performed under tumescent local anesthesia, sometimes with light sedation; you can usually go home the same day.
- A compression band is worn for a period we advise to reduce swelling and help the skin redrape; incisions are tiny, with fine sutures, if any, typically removed at about 5–7 days.
- Expect swelling and possible bruising and firmness for a few weeks, with many returning to work in a few days; the final contour refines over about 6–12 weeks.
- Side effects such as swelling, bruising, temporary numbness, firmness or contour irregularity may occur and are explained at consultation.
Safety & considerations
Possible reactions
- Swelling, bruising and temporary numbness in the area
- Firmness or small lumps as it settles
- Contour irregularity or asymmetry
- Skin unevenness, more likely where skin elasticity is limited
- Scarring; the incisions are tiny and hidden to be discreet
When to take extra care
- Significant skin laxity, where a lift may suit better
- Fullness that comes from muscle or bone rather than fat
- Bleeding disorders or blood-thinning medication — tell your doctor
- Smoking, which can affect healing
- Realistic expectations and a stable weight
what to expect
What to expect over time
A general guide to how the days and months after treatment usually unfold. Results vary by individual.
DAY 0
Surgery day
Performed under tumescent local anesthesia, sometimes with light sedation; you usually go home the same day wearing a compression band.
DAY 1-3
Swelling & bruising
Swelling, possible bruising and firmness are usually most noticeable now; the band is worn as advised.
DAY 5-7
Sutures & work
The incisions are tiny; fine sutures, if any, are typically removed at about 5–7 days, and many people return to work within a few days.
WEEK 1-3
Settling
Swelling and firmness gradually ease; temporary numbness or hardness in the area can persist for a time.
6-12 WEEKS
Contour refines
The final contour refines over about 6–12 weeks. Removed fat cells do not return, though significant weight change can still affect the area. (Results vary by individual.)
Sessions & results
This is usually a single procedure. Swelling and firmness settle over weeks and the contour refines over about 6–12 weeks. Removed fat cells do not return, but significant weight change can still affect the area. (Results vary by individual.)
how it compares
How it compares
These options target facial fullness differently — some remove fat, one tightens loose skin — so the right one depends on whether the fullness is fat and how firm the skin is. This is not a ranking.
| Facial Liposuction | Fat-dissolving injections | Neck lift | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Approach | Suctions localized fat in one procedure | Dissolves smaller amounts gradually over sessions | Surgically tightens loose neck skin and bands |
| Best for | Localized fat with good skin elasticity | Small pockets of fat | Loose skin rather than fat |
| Anesthesia | Tumescent local, sometimes with light sedation | Topical or none | Local with sedation, up to general |
| Recovery | Band worn; swelling weeks; ~6–12 weeks contour | Little downtime; multiple sessions | Sutures 7–14 days; ~1–2 weeks |
| Longevity | Removed fat does not return; weight can affect | Gradual; maintenance may be needed | Long-lasting; aging continues |
Neither is “better” — they work differently and suit different goals. The right choice is decided after we assess your skin.
Before you decide, the questions people always ask
before consultation
We look at the places where fat collects and blurs the contour, such as under the chin and beneath the jawline. The deep fat inside the cheek is a different matter: removing it carelessly can make the face look older, so we approach it cautiously. Working out which layer of fat is actually causing the problem is where the plan begins.
If skin elasticity has already declined, removing fat alone can leave it that way. That is why we assess your age and your skin condition together and, where needed, plan a treatment for firmness alongside the surgery. How much fat we leave behind also depends on that assessment.
Swelling and bruising settle over several weeks, and the contour takes a few months to settle into place. In the early stage, keeping up the compression affects both the swelling and the shape, so please follow the period and the method you are given. If you have something scheduled, let us know in advance and we will time it around you.
It can if the fat is taken unevenly, so we work at a consistent layer and remove consistent amounts. Early on it usually feels uneven because of the swelling, and this smooths out as time passes. If it is still noticeable after a few months, we examine the area and discuss how to refine it.
The fat cells we remove do not form again, but the cells that remain can grow larger. In practice that means a significant weight gain can bury the contour once more. This is why managing your weight after surgery matters for protecting the result, and why we discuss the timing of surgery with you if you are planning to lose weight.
