Rather than a still photograph, we look first at expression, overall proportion and vascular anatomy, then set the product, the injection layer and the amount conservatively.
HA filler holds water and adds a soft cushion where it is placed, and is gradually absorbed over time. For set-in lines, the doctor uses a thin, low-viscosity gel and places it superficially, just beneath the line, so it lifts and smooths the crease from within rather than adding bulk. A blunt cannula in the deep dermis is often preferred on the neck, where the skin is thin and mobile, to spread the gel gently and lower the chance of bruising. Before you decide, the questions people always ask
before consultation
Filler is for the lines that stay etched into the skin even when your face is completely at rest. Lines that show up only when you smile or frown come from muscle movement, so a toxin is the right choice for those. And when a line has been there for years and has set firmly into place, filling it will not smooth it out completely; it is more accurate to expect it to become shallower.
For very shallow fine lines we use a low-viscosity product, placed superficially and in small amounts. That said, when fine lines are spread across a wide area, a skin booster that works on the overall texture of the skin is often a better fit than filling one line at a time. We decide by looking at how deep the lines are and how many of them there are.
When filler sits in too superficial a layer, light scatters through it and the area can show through with a bluish cast. It happens most easily where the skin is thin, which is why keeping to the right injection depth matters. If you notice a change like that, the filler can be dissolved and the result adjusted, so please get in touch with us.
No, it differs. Areas that move a great deal, such as around the mouth, absorb the product faster, while areas that move little, such as the temples or the forehead, hold it longer. Even the same product behaves differently depending on where it was placed, so we schedule the next session separately for each area.
To make bruising less likely, we sometimes suggest pausing aspirin, circulation medication or supplements such as omega-3 for a few days beforehand. Medication you take to treat a condition, however, must never be stopped on your own, so tell us what you are taking and we will decide together. Please also avoid alcohol on the day of the treatment.
